About monkfish design
It seems that everywhere I work flaunts one certain type of design, while neglecting others.

I started out as a Graphic Designer in 1995, working on CDRom titles for the likes of BBC, Marshall Cavendish and Birse. I specialised in onscreen design and barely looked at print design throughout my stay.

After 2 years, and eager for a new challenge I fled north to Lancashire to work for a global holiday company, whose head office was in Lancaster. There I conceived and grew their multimedia department, specialising in auditorium presentations and magazine publications. I was instrumental in the company winning a prestigious award at the OTE conference, in Paris - The oscars of the holiday industry.

2 years later I accepted a position to head up the creative studio of a marketing company based in Staffordshire. Working on a whole range of projects from websites to adverts gave me the chance to stretch my crayon filled wings and really go crazy with design. Being able to take a company’s brand and develop it through the whole gamut of marketing collateral allowed me to produce consistent identities and work with all mediums - One day I would be shooting and editing video for TNT, the next I’d be designing the print portfolio for SML.

This insatiable thirst for anything and everything design made me want to explore more opportunities... And so...

In 2006 I accepted the position of Head of Studio at an events company based in Worcester. The events industry is such a vibrant, exciting world, that I’d be crazy not to want to be part of it.

I was in charge of the creative aspects of all events, from Hewlett Packard’s worldwide Integrity server launch to Currys UK incentive day. From Jaguar’s dealership campaign to Westfield

Working with clients spanning the industry board was fantastic, and it quenched the thirst... For a while.

The problem with running a studio is that you don’t get to do enough of the work yourself, and I became the creative part of meetings, rather than a creative part of the team.

It was at this point that I realised I should be designing all the time. So, now I’m here, Sole Trading, Vat registered... doing what I love all the time. Every project is a new challenge... And I’m loving every second.
